Adele Huggard (Sandhurst) has won the 2015 Autumn Country Tournament in tough and chilly conditions both days of the event. Adele fired rounds of 81 & 74 at Trentham Golf Club to win by a whopping 7shots. Equal leader after round one, Adele shot an impressive course record equalling 74 in what was a much sunnier day. A one over par front 9 put Adele 2 shots ahead of equal leader and final runner up Heather Harley (Kooringal), giving her an edge going into the final 9 of the tournament. A birdie on 17 was all that was needed for the Ruby McKenzie (Gross) Trophy to fall in the welcoming hands of Adele.
Vicki Johnstone won the Vi Teesdale (Nett) Trophy with her two nett rounds of 72 & 73 for a 145 total. Vicki won by three shots from a three way countback on 148. Betty Mcguinness (Buninyong) was the lucky one claiming the runner up position.
36 hole gross grade winners were as follows: Vicki Johnstone (Warrnambool B Grade), Sharon Cresswell (Seymour C Grade), Judy Carpenter (Beaufort D Grade).
The 36 hole nett grade winners were as follows: Betty Mcguinness (Buninyong A Grade), Sharon Cresswell (Seymour C Grade), Cheryl Payne (Woodend D Grade).
Today’s 18 hole nett winner in A Grade was Sue Leitenger (RACV Cape Schank), B Grade saw Carol Stuart (Heathcote) take honours. In C Grade Anne Pegg (Shepparton) was the victor and the winner in D Grade was Pam Burton (Woodend)
Thank you to Trentham GC for their amazing hospitality and assistance, in particular to Vicki Adamson (Women’s President), Sue Byrne (Women’s Captain) and all the volunteers from the club who assisted over the two days.
