Hundreds enjoy Kids Golf Zone

While the best players from around the world strut their stuff on the course, our stars of the future were honing their game at the Junior Golf Zone at the 2007 MFS Women’s Australian Open. Located behind the practice putting green in the village, the Junior Golf Zone provided youngsters the chance to experience the game. The Zone has been set up at many events across the country and aims to provide a fun experience for young golf fans and increase participation. Golf Australia were delighted with the feedback received from participants. The enthusiasm was great and shows there is a genuine interest in the game amongst the youth of Australia. The Junior Golf Zone features an array of free activities including sticky target chipping, putting and a full swing area. Golf Australia and the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation staff were assisted at the Zone by accredited golf coaches who generously volunteered their time. A putting competition at the Zone also raised over $1,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the official charity of the event. Golf Australia would like to thank all the volunteers and participants who contributed to a great environment at the Junior Zone.
