Huntingdale wins back-to-back

Huntingdale has successfully defended their Division 1 Metropolitan Match Play title. The victory was by a mere a point over Victoria. The last round of Division 1 matches were contested at Kew GC under perfect weather conditions. Division 2 matches were played at Cranbourne and Division 3 at Riverdale.

The battle for first place was fiercely contested in Division 1 as the top 2 teams on the ladder – Huntingdale & Victoria – faced each other. The result could’ve gone either way as the matches went on. In the end an overall half on the day gave Huntingdale the title.
In Division 2, Southern needed a win to secure the top position on the ladder. They finally claimed the title with a comfortable win against Heidelberg. That result put them 1 point clear of Eastwood & Cranbourne.
Finally, Long Island was the winner of Division 3 once again with a narrow margin of half a point over the strong team from The Heritage.
Divisions 4 & 5 had a shorter season finishing a week ago. In 2014, Kingswood & Patterson River will be promoted to Divisions 3 & 4 respectively after their success in their own Divisions.
Congratulations to all the 2013 winners and to all the players who took part in what continues to grow as a very popular and vibrant women’s competition.
To finish the season on a high note most clubs will have the traditional Women’s Pennant & Metropolitan Match Play season break up parties tonite. Let’s hope everyone enjoys the celebrations for all their efforts in 2013! Click here to see results and photos for all Divisions.
