Hyde on a winning streak at Metropolitan

The Metropolitan Plate was played today as the fifth and final senior event in August after being rescheduled from May because of inclement weather. The 60 players that took to The Metropolitan Golf Club were tested in the cold gusty wind that has been ever present over the past week of senior events. Tony Hyde (Rossdale) maintained his winning form from the Victoria Senior Amateur to claim the Metropolitan Plate today with 30 Scratch Stableford points. Peter Bence (Kingswood) notched out Alan Cole (Queens Park) on a count back with 28 Scratch Stableford points to finish second. However, the day was not a complete loss for Cole as he took out the nett runner-up prize with 37 points, finishing only one point behind the nett winner, Mark Bainbridge (Sands Torquay) with 38 points.
