Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven Clubs unite to launch Grand Pacific Golf Website

#TimeToSign – Local clubs throughout the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands are today launching an innovative website called Grand Pacific Golf as part of a new marketing campaign that will target golfing enthusiasts when planning their next vacation. The website, which is marketed at domestic and international tourists, is a joint collaboration between nine local golf clubs across three regions that will boost local tourism. The nine clubs participating include; Wollongong Golf Club, Port Kembla Golf Club, The Grange Golf Club, Mt Broughton Golf Club, Links Shell Cove Golf Club, Kiama Golf Club, Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club, Nowra Golf Club and Russell Vale Golf Club. Wollongong Golf Club General Manager Leigh Hingston said that he is hoping this website will show tourists exactly what the regions have to offer when it comes to golf. Grand Pacific Golf is a tourist route that offers quality, accessible golf courses at affordable prices and was partly inspired by the successful Melbourne Sandbelt, he said. These regions have some of the most accessible golf clubs in New South Wales and it s fantastic to see the sport united for a common goal. We are fortunate in this area to have a vast amount of golf clubs that all offer something unique. The website has already received strong support from key organisations including; Golf Illawarra, Destination Wollongong, Tourism Shellharbour and Grand Pacific Drive. Destination Wollongong General Manager Mark Sleigh said that golf will be a valuable contributor to doubling overnight visitor economy by 2020, a goal set by the NSW State government. By bringing a large number of quality courses under one brand, all located within a comfortable drive from Sydney, Grand Pacific Golf will be an extremely powerful tool to drive domestic and international visitation, he said. Robbie Stevenson, General Manager at Links Shellcove, said the support this website has already received from local organisations has been really strong something is he is looking forward to continuing. Our aim is to get as many people on board as possible because we really want this to be an absolute success; not just for us but for the whole golfing community, he said. We have worked really hard to put this together; I am really excited to see this website finally becoming a reality. ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball has commended the clubs for their hard work in making this initiative become a reality. Clubs work for the community and this website is a great example of clubs not only promoting what they have to offer, but also doing their bit to increase local tourism in the area, he said.
