The snowballing interest in Senior (55+) golf by clubs and golfers alike shows no sign of waning with new events emerging across Australia on a regular basis.
The Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club and the Tura Beach Country Club would be familiar to many Victorian golfers that have holidayed on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales and the clubs have now announced the staging of two new senior men’s events in late April.
Pambula Merimbula is conducting a 36-hole NSW Men’s Senior Order of Merit (SOOM) event on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 April followed by Tura Beach staging its inaugural 36-hole NSW SOOM event on Wednesday 26 and 27 April.
Tura Beach has also received approval from Golf NSW for its SOOM event to be a Qualifying Tournament for the NSW Men’s Senior Open to be held at Thurgoona in November as part of the PGA of Australia’s E-Z-GO Legends tour. Pambula Merimbula and Tura Beach are also collaborating with the promotion of this special week of senior golf, with prizes allocated for 72-hole gross and nett winners for those participate in both tournaments.
This is the first time either club has conducted a senior golf event and given the four days of tournament golf (separated by Anzac Day) and Tura’s event being a NSW Men’s Senior Open qualifier, the clubs are hoping that as many senior amateurs as possible from NSW and Victoria will travel to participate.
Located 70 kilometres from the Victorian Border, many of the location’s permanent residents are originally from Victoria. In addition to providing senior golf opportunity, the tournaments are also sure to be a major tourism promotion for the area.
The entry fee for each event is $75 for visiting players with full entry details including contacts for additional information available via the following links:
