Juli Inkster is on track to become the oldest ever winner of an LPGA tour event at the Evian Masters after a third round 69 saw her take the lead and be five strokes ahead of last year&aposs winner Australian Karrie Webb. In windy conditions at the Evian masters Golf Club in France, 47-year-old Inkster was one of only three players to post a sub-par round as her 69 on the third day helped her take the lead going into the final day. The Californian certainly knows what it takes to succeed at the event though, after claiming the 2003 title and never finishing outside the top 32 in six previous Evian Masters. “I played very well. I&aposm driving the ball well. I hit some really good irons and wedges and I&aposm putting good,” said Inkster on LPGA.com. “I&aposve been really struggling with my putting the last month and played really horrible, so it&aposs good to see that come around.” Second round joint leader Diana D&aposAlessio had a particularly frustrating round after turning for home at one under. In a horror back nine, D&aposAlessio posted a quadruple bogey and a further three bogeys to card a four-over 76 and slip down to joint third position while the other joint leader after round two, Jeong Jang, managed to record par despite struggling with the bumpy greens and the windy conditions. Australian Karrie Webb also had an off day, recording 75 to be one-under overall and five strokes behind Inkster while Rachel Hetherington carded 75 on day three to be three-over going into the final day.
