Three internationals are in the lead entering the final day of the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast.
Big-hitting American Harold Varner III fired six-under 66 to jump up the top of the leaderboard and be tied for the lead on three-under the card on the toughened-up Royal Pines layout. “I think I should be able to play anywhere in the world, if you want to be an elite player,'' said the American. "The best players in the world, they win all over, so this was another opportunity to give myself a chance somewhere else.”
Varner was joined Joining him in the lead are South African friends Dylan Frittelli and Zander Lombard, who each fired one-under 71 today.
Victoria's Nathan Holman is the top Australian after a third-round 70 today. Holman is outright fourth, two shots back.
The 2015 PGA Tour of Australasia Player of the Year, Matt Millar and Swede David Lingmerth are the only other players to be even par after three rounds, they are tied 5th heading into the final round.
Today's final round will feature a $1 million prize bonus for a hole in one at the par-three 16th at Royal Pines.
