Interstate Series – Day 1 Report

Australian Men’s Interstate Teams Matches – Federal Golf Club, Canberra

The Victorian team produced consecutive impressive performances to build a solid lead after the opening day of play at Federal Golf Club.

After a brief weather delay for early fog, the Victorians booked top spot on the leaderboard as the only team to win both contests today – having won 11 of their 14 matches.

Tom Power-Horan and Ben Eccles won both of their matches en route to the Victorians taking the lead.

South Australia are in second place after defeating Western Australia and a narrow loss to New South Wales.

The Western Australian team are in third place while New South Wales and Queensland are tied in fourth place.

Tasmania is in sixth.

The third and fourth rounds are played on Wednesday.

Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches – Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club, Canberra

Queensland and Western Australia are tied for the lead after the opening two rounds of the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches in cool conditions at Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club.

Both sides defeated Tasmania 5-0 during the course of the day while Western Australia overcame South Australia 3-2 and Queensland defeated Victoria by the same scoreline.

World Number 1 amateur Minjee Lee won both her matches comfortably for the Western Australian team.

The New South Wales team are in third place after 4-1 win over South Australia.

Victoria is in fourth place after losses to New South Wales and Queensland on the opening day.

South Australia and Tasmania round out the leaderboard.

The third and fourth rounds are played on Wednesday.
