Iowa State sign Ruben Sondjaja


Media Release: 04/29/2013 AMES, Iowa The Iowa State men’s golf team signed one of Australia s top junior golfers in Ruben Sondjaja, Iowa State head coach Andrew Tank announced. Sondjaja, a native of Sydney, Australia, was named captain of the New South Wales junior team for 2013 and was a member of the NSW men’s team for the Australian Interstate Matches. He finished runner-up at the Riversdale Cup, Australia s oldest amateur event, to cap off his 2013 season. Entering the year, Sondjaja was a semi-finalist in the 2012 Australian Amateur and was selected to the 2012 Australian junior team where he went undefeated in the Trans-Tasman Cup. The future Cyclone linkster tied for 16th at the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship held at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif. Ruben is a very accomplished player with a great desire to improve, Tank said. I believe that he ll make an immediate impact on our program. I look forward to helping him reach his goals as a Cyclone. Sondjaja will become the third Cyclone on the 2013-14 roster from Oceania, joining sophomore Sam Daley (Australia) and junior Duncan Croudis (New Zealand). www.cyclones.com
