Iron Jack Senior kicks off at Yarrawonga

David Robb (Corowa) fired a terrific 2-under par 70 to give himself a two shot lead in the inaugural Iron Jack Yarrawonga Senior Amateur. In second position is Eastern’s Andrew Hansen after his excellent score of 74. Trailing a further shot back on 75 are John Kelly (The Metropolitan), Chris Tatt (Bunniyong) and Dean Jones (Heathcote).

Paul Fink (Cape Schanck) produced the best nett score of the day with a superb 66 playing off a handicap of 16. Fink takes a two stroke advantage into the final round over Andrew Hansen playing off 6 and David Robb off 2 who both finished with 68.

In the women’s scratch stableford there is a tie at the top with both Deborah Rix (Cobden) and Helen Pascoe (Bunniyong) finishing with 33. Rix and Pascoe played off handicaps of 2 and 1 respectively and will battle it out tomorrow at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Lake course. In third position is Judy Langford (Wodonga) with a score of 25.

The women’s stableford event sees Noelle Hartnett (Rossdale) with the round of the day after shooting 36 points on the Black Bull layout. Scratch leaders Deborah Rix and Helen Pascoe are in hot pursuit after shooting 35 and 34 points respectively.

Players will be hoping the beautiful playing conditions from day 1 will continue into day 2 as the event shifts to the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club.
