u Australia Limited (IAL) is proud to announce it will again be naming and major sponsor in conjunction with Brisbane Isuzu, of the Isuzu Queensland Open golf tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
The 91st annual Isuzu Queensland Open will be played from October 20-23, and is back at the iconic Brisbane Golf Club, one of the most historic venues on the PGA Tour of Australasia.
Growing in popularity in recent years, the Isuzu Queensland Open is now a marquee event on the Queensland sporting calendar, with the championship attracting over 100 professionals and amateurs alike.
Participants will battle it out over 72 challenging holes of stroke play for the $110,000 prize purse and the coveted T.B Hunter Cup.
Defending champion David Bransdon will be back on course to defend his title in a competition that has kick-started the careers of many of Australia’s golfing superstars over the years, including the likes of Norman Von Nida, Greg Norman, Stuart Appleby and Peter Senior.
“Isuzu is excited to be a part of such a historical sporting event for the fourth year running. It’s an outstanding few days that continues to showcase the very best in Australian golfing talent,” said IAL’s Advertising Manager, Jeff Birdseye.
“The Open has proven to be an excellent launching-pad for some of the game’s best, and the timing of this year’s event well and truly turns the golfing world’s attention to Australia for what promises to be another picture perfect event in Brisbane.
“This year’s winner also receives Official World Golf Ranking Points and becomes fully exempt on to the PGA Tour of Australasia for the remainder of this season plus a further year.
“It’s fantastic to see the stature of the competition growing year to year, and continuing as a genuine career pathway for the sport’s rising stars.”
Over 5,000 spectators are expected to enjoy the four-day championship which provides the community with some fantastic entertainment too.
There will also be plenty on offer for families at the Golf Activity Centre, which boasts a PGA hitting net, My-Golf junior zone, face painting, sand play and a colouring competition.
