Jack McLeod from Bayview Golf Club and a JNJG member won the World Deaf Golf Championships individual men's event by 13 strokes. The Australians had a string of wins with fellow Australian Jack Besley coming in third, the Australian Men's Team claimed a win defeating Sweden and the Australian Women's Team came runner up behind USA.

Jack led the field by six shots after the first round and continued to build his momentum leading by 10 strokes after the second round and 12 strokes after the third.
Jack commented about his recent win at the World Deaf Golf Championships held from 8-12th October at the TSU Country Club, Tokyo, Japan:
"I’m very proud to be the youngest winner of such a prestigious event and to be a member of the winning Australian Men’s team.
Our Japanese hosts were very kind and helpful and the golf course was magnificent.
My Australian team mates and Manager were very supportive during the tournament and I’d also like to thank all the Members of Bayview Golf Club who have always given me encouragement and support, and to my coach Simon Deep from Terrey Hills.
I’m looking forward to going to America in 2014 to defend my world title.”
Not only was his win an incredible accomplishment, Jack is 16 years old and the youngest competitor/winner ever!
He was born profoundly deaf and uses two cochlear implants, but had to play the tournament completely deaf.
Jack started playing golf at the age of nine. He is a regular competitor at the Jack Newton Junior Golf events, plays in Major Pennants for his home club, Bayview Golf Club in the Sydney Northern Beaches and he has won Junior and Senior Vardon events. His handicap will be a +2 after this tournament is taken into account. He is one to look out for, as Jack has now set his sights to pursue a career in golf.
