/> Junior Sand Greens Winners – Charley & Max Jacobs
Brother and Sister duo Max and Charley Jacobs from Ardrossan Golf Club have taken out the boys & girls Junior Sand Greens Championships.
The Championship was played on 16 & 17 May in near perfect conditions on both days, with 18 holes each day at Jamestown Golf Club.
Max, playing off a handicap of 11, claimed the boys championship with rounds of 78-71 (149) to finish at 9-over, four strokes ahead of his nearest rival Dylan Roser (Fleurieu) who had rounds of 76 & 77 (153).
Liam Zellar from Stansbury Golf Club, with a playing handicap of 15, claimed the nett event with nett scores of 63, 75 (138). Will Strattford (Tumby Bay) was runner up.
In the Girls Championship, Charley Jacobs claimed the title for a second year in a row after solid rounds of 83 & 77 (she carded 83 & 85 last year) for a 36 hole total of 160 (14-over) to win by 18 strokes ahead of The Vines of Reynella’s Caitlin Peirce 95, 87 (182).
Jessica Smith (Stirling North) with a net total of 128 won the girls net aggregate event.
Golf SA would like to acknowledge the Jamestown Golf Club for hosting the championship, in particular, District Secretary Gary Lloyd and Deb McCarthy for their efforts organising and coordinating the event which included 30 championship entrants and 5 Sub Junior participants and their families.
Lloyd affectionately known as “the Bear” still holds the course record of 64 at Jamestown Golf Club, achieved 33 year ago on 31 July 1982.
Lloyd was awarded the Country Male Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 for his wonderful contribution to Country Golf, especially to the Northern Golfing Community.
