Defending champion Matt Jager (WA) stands poised to launch a final day assault on first place after a third round six under par 66 brought him up to second at the Federal Amateur Open Championship at Federal Golf Club in Canberra. The AIS/Golf Australia National Squad member is hot on the heels of Queenslander Tim Hart and Tasmania&aposs Craig Hancock who are joint leaders at 9-under par. Joining Jager in second place is his fellow AIS/National Squad member Brendan Smith (NSW) who shot a third round 2-under par 70. Victorian Luke Bleumink is in outright third place and a stroke back at 7-under par for the championship. Bleumink was an important factor in the Victorian men&aposs team win at the recent Australian Men&aposs Interstate Teams Matches. NSW duo Lincoln Tighe and Patrick Wilson are two strokes behind Bleumink at 5-under par. The final round will be played on Monday.
