Jager runs close in South Carolina

Western Australia s Matt Jager has had his best international result after finishing an impressive second to American Mark Anderson at the Player s Amateur tournament at Belfair. Jager entered the final day as the outright leader after two birdies and an eagle in his first five holes of his third round put him out in front. The round also saw Jager nail what he later described as the best putt of his career so far- a 35 footer on the 12th green. But there would be no stopping Anderson who finished with a sizzling final round of 60 (10 under) to claim the title. Jager carded a final round of 66 to finish five strokes behind Anderson and 17-under for the tournament. Josh Younger and Matt Griffin continued to fly the Australian flag on the leaderboard, sharing third place with 14-under par- some eight strokes behind Anderson. Jason Scrivener also finished inside the top 10 with a final round of 65.
