Results: Srixon Australian Men&aposs Stroke Play Round 1 Ross Herbert International and National Team Results Western Australian Matt Jager highlighted the home state advantage on Thursday as he lit up Mt Lawley Golf Club on the opening day of the Srixon Australian Men’sStroke Play Championship with a sensational 7-under par 65. Jager, the reigning New Zealand Amateur champion, leads the championship by one stroke from defending champion Victorian Bryden Macpherson. Victorian Ryan Woodward is in third place after making the most of the perfect conditions with an opening round 4-under par 68 at Lake Karrinyup Country Club. Three players are tied for fourth place at 3-under par including Brody Ninyette (WA), Queensland s Brett Rankin and Taipei s Chi-Hsien Hsieh. NEC Master of the Amateurs champion Jordan Sherratt (SA) was among a group of four players to shoot rounds of 2-under par 70 including Victoria s Lachlan Cain and England s Toby Burden. Victorian Amateur champion Kieran Pratt opened with a 1-under par 71 joined by nine other players including Lincoln Tighe (NSW). The second round begins on Friday.
