Jake McLeod & Jenny Lee crowned 2012 SA Junior Amateur Champions

Jake McLeod (Hills Int. – QLD) and Jenny Lee (Glenelg) have been crowned 2012 Golf SA Junior Amateur Champions. McLeod had a fine tournament shooting 76 for both rounds on the opening day at Kooyonga on Mon 9 Jan then adapted well to the Vines of Reynella layout carding a third round 2-under par 69, to be tied with Kade McBride (Burleigh) and Jack Williams (Grange) on (221) 6-over par. In the final round at The Vines (Wed 11 Jan) in dry and breezy conditions, McLeod and McBride both went out in 36 even with the card, with Williams 2 strokes further back. With 4 holes to play McBride edged out to 3 stroke lead courtesy of a birdie on the par 4 -12th and eagle 3 on the 462 metre par 5, 13th hole. McLeod then made his charge with birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes to be one in front heading down the last. With McBride bogeying the hole, a par on the 18th was enough to seal victory by 2 strokes. The Girl&aposs Championship was a repeat of last weeks Junior Masters result with Jenny Lee claiming the title ahead of Elysia Yap (Glenelg) and Kristalle Blum (Grange). Lee performed consistently over the tournament with rounds of 75, 76, 73, 74 (298) 6-over par, to claim successive SA Amateur Girls titles. In the Girl&aposs B Grade Cup Jessica Reynolds (Wirrabara) 401 claimed victory ahead of Monique Ware (Royal Adelaide) 424.
