Jane Crafter and Betsy King claim maiden win on Legends Tour

(Tucson, Ariz.) – On an uncharacteristically brisk and rain-dotted day in the desert, two of golf&aposs greatest putters prevailed in the first Fry&aposs Desert Golf Classic held at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club. LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famer Betsy King joined forces with Australian dynamo Jane Crafter to go low on the 6200 yard, par 72 course surrounded by mountains, firing 8 under in 14 holes before play was called due to darkness. It was enough to best the incredible Legends field by one shot and claim the spoils, including a $30,000 winner&aposs check. “We birdied the first four holes,” said King. “We happened to make a number of great putts in a format that favoured it.” The Legends played a two-person scramble all the way around. Crafter consistently putted first and the team soon learned that if she didn&apost drop it in, King was likely to. “She made a bomb on the par 3 8th that was really just impossible,” said Crafter.
