Jenny Lee SA Women’s Strokeplay Champion

Jenny Lee in action at Flagstaff Hill Jenny Lee from the Glenelg Golf Club is the leading qualifier after the stroke rounds of the South Australian Women’s Amateur Championships. With an opening round one-under 73 at Blackwood, Lee followed up with a one-under round of 72 at Flagstaff Hill, to finish on (145) placing her eight shots ahead of Jo Charlton (Metropolitan) 76, 77 (153). Lee had 5 birdies and 4 bogeys in round one, hitting 13 greens in regulation. I was happy with how I was hitting it but had a few three putts, I was happy to be leading after the first round said Lee. In the second round, I hit 15 greens, which was the best I ve played for a while, but didn t putt so well. I had 2 birdies and a bogey and closed with 10 straight pars from the 9th. All in though I m pretty happy with how I m hitting the ball . Lee added I m pretty confident going into the final, this is the third time I ve played the tournament and have been runner up both times, I m hoping to go one better this year and get through to the final and have win. Sue Wooster (The National), finished 79, 77 (156) to qualify in third position while Kono Matsumoto (Victoria) qualified fourth with rounds of 76, 80 (156). Local players; Elysia Yap, Kristalle Blum, Cassidy Evreniadis and Wei-jean Foo join Lee in the Match Play section of the Championship qualifying fifth to eight position respectively. The South Australian Amateur Championship Match Play rounds (Quarter Finals) commence at Kooyonga on Thursday 20 March from 8.26am.
