Jenny Lee pictured with Chair Golf SA Bill Klaebe accepting the Women&aposs Vardon Trophy at the SA Golf Industry Awards Night (Oct 13) Jenny Lee (Glenelg) and Jordan Bishop (Kooyonga) and have taken out the first girls & boys events of the 2013/14 SA Junior Summer series. Players faced wet and windy conditions on both days with 18 holes played each day at West Lakes Golf Club. Lee, playing off a handicap of plus 1, claimed the girls open with rounds of 74-76 (150) to finish at 8-over, 10 strokes ahead of her nearest rival Ella Adams (Grange) who had rounds of 81 & 79 (160). Sophia Cannizzaro (HCap 16) claimed the net event with net scores of 74, 73 (147). Taylah Cooper (Flagstaff Hill) was runner up. Lee who was runner up to Minjee Lee in the Australian Women’s Amateur Championship earlier in the year, has potentially played her final junior event. Lee will miss the next Junior Open at Flagstaff Hill and Blackwood due to high performance training commitments and then potentially the Junior Masters and SA Junior Amateur in early January to play the Women’s Lake Macquarie National ranking event. Lee then turns eighteen years old on 16 January bringing to a close a superb junior career. In the Boy s Open, Bishop claimed the title after solid rounds of 72 & 74 for a 36 hole total of 146 (6 over the card) to win by two strokes ahead of Echunga s Billy Cawthorne 73, 75 (148). Harrison Burner (The Grange) with a net total of 140 won the net aggregate event by 2 strokes ahead of Jake Eadie (Fleurieu). For final result please CLICK HERE
