Jones wins in Japan

Australian Brendan Jones has come from nowhere to win the Nippon Series JT Cup ahead of Toru Taniguchi and New Zealand&aposs David Smail. Trailing the leader by five strokes at the start of play, Jones shot a sensational round of nine-under par to beat Taniguchi by just one stroke. Jones&apos round of 61 included 10 birdies and easily the best shot by anyone at the tournament. It is his second victory on the Japan Tour in four weeks after he captured the Mitsui Sumitomo VIS Taiheiyo Masters in November. Jones will pocket just over $300,000 for his victory. Compatriot Steven Conran finished in a tie for 19th at one-under par.
