Jones wins in Japan

Australian Brendan Jones has fired a three-under-par final round of 68 to claim his third Tsuruya Open in Japan. The 32-year-old New South Welshman nailed five birdies and two bogeys during his round to hold off a late challenge from Hirofumi Miyase, Masahiro Kuramoto and Takuya Taniguchi who finished in a tie for second place at 14-under-par. Outright fifth was Katsumasa Miyamoto at 13-under-par, while Tadahiro Takayama and Toru Taniguchi finished two strokes further adrift at 11-under-par. Australian Scott Laycock carded a disappointing final round of 73 to finish in equal 18th position at six-under-par. The victory for Jones was his third Tsuruya Open title having previously been successful in 2004 and 2006.
