2016 Junior Golf Queensland Awards Presentation Night was held on Thursday 1st December to celebrate and recognise the achievements of all junior golfers throughout 2016.
The night was a huge success with players, friends, families, and sponsors coming together to celebrate another fantastic year of junior golf in Queensland. Juniors Yevin Samararatne and Isabelle Simpson played hosts for the evening entertaining the crowd and presenting awards.
The prestigious 18 Hole Player of the Year Awards were presented to Sarah Wilson (Maroochy River) and Zach Maxwell (Virginia) for their achievements in 2016.
Sarah has several notable achievements including the Alice Springs Junior Open Champion, Titleist 2 Winter Classic Gross Winner, selected as a development player in the Australian Junior Interstate Series, and just recently won the Ian Baker Finch Junior Classic.
Zach became the youngest player to ever qualify and make the cut at the Isuzu Queensland Open in October following his section in the Golf Queensland State Squad, the Australian Schools Championship Team, development player at the Australian Junior Interstate Series and the 2016 Virginia Junior Club Champion.
Congratulations to all players who participated in Junior Golf Queensland events this year and we look forward to seeing you next year for more events! Special mention to all caddies, families, golf clubs, sponsors, and organisers for their commitment to making junior events possible.
After 34 years working in the Queensland golf industry, Rae Clarke is set to retire as Events and Membership Officer of Junior Golf Queensland in mid-January. Rae was honoured last night by the players and families for her commitment and dedication to the development of junior golf in Queensland. We sincerely thank her for her devotion; she will be missed by all.
