Junior leads shared in Tasmania

Australian Girls&apos Amateur Championship – Round 1 Australian Girls&apos Amateur – Round 1 Results Queenslander Lauren Mason and Japan s Saki Suzuki share the lead after the opening round of the Australian Girls Amateur Championship at Ulverstone Golf Club in Tasmania. With plenty of pace in the greens and perfect weather conditions, Mason eagled the par 5 11th hole before making even shorter work of the par 3 18th with her seven iron to record a hole in one and finish at 1-under par (72) and level with Suzuki. Jordana Keaton (NSW) is in outright third place following her open round even par 73 while fellow NSW player Claudia Lim is in fourth place following her 2-over par 75. Three players fired 3-over par rounds of 76 including Korean Annie Choi, Queensland s Alison Lee and Jessica Dengate from NSW. NSW pair Chantal Hodson and Cathleen Santoso opened with 4-over par 77s to leave them five strokes behind the leaders in 8th place. Australian Boys&apos Amateur Championship – Round 1 Australian Boys&apos Amateur – Results Round 1 Highly fancied Queensland junior Cameron Smith shares the first round lead with fellow Queenslander Remo Fueg after the pair fired 2-under par 70s for a one stroke lead at Launceston Golf Club. In cool but pleasant conditions, Fueg and Smith shot their way to the lead but have South Australia s Anthony Murdaca and Western Australia s Ryan Peake hot on their heels at 1-under par. Four players share fifth place at even par including NSW Amateur champion Jake Higginbottom, Queensland duo Maverick Antcliff and Aaron Wilkin and Victorian Ben Rogers. Fourteen players are tied at 2-over par and are within touching distance of the leaders. Round 2 begins on Thursday morning.
