Junior Pennant reaches semi-finals

Churchill Park held host to the 2016 Junior Pennant Quarter Final this afternoon with six eager teams looking to advance through to the Semi-Final. The weather was warm but overcast and relatively calm conditions favoured the players.

Victoria GC Girls cemented their place on Friday afternoon at Spring Valley after warding off Whittlesea in what ended in excitement.  After the contest was drawn 3 all, it took one extra hole for Victoria to get over the line. With teams required to select one team member to participate in the final, it was Kathleen Newham up against Matthew Hassall in the playoff. Victoria GC Girls will now find themselves up against the number one seed Northern Golf Club in a bid to take home the silverware or 2016.

Kew will also advance through to the next stage following another exciting sudden death victory between Kew’s Daisuki Nakajima and South Gippsland’s Charlie May. Patterson River had a narrow victory over the strong team of Royal Melbourne for a closing result of 4 & 2 in their favour. Both Kew and Patterson River will take on each other in the Semi-Final showdown for a birth in the Final at Woodlands Golf Club one week from now.
