The Carbine Club (Northern Territory inc), also play a critical role in the area of junior golf development in the NT. Through their fundraising efforts, monies are available for Golf NT to deliver school visits, school gala days and pathway opportunities for identified players. The Carbine Club representatives, David D’Silva (President) and Tony Pickering (Event Manager) last week, handed an incredible $16 000 cheque to Golf NT President, Stewart Cox with all money raised to be spent on Junior Golf Development.
The Golf NT Junior Academy is one program that receives direct assistance from the Carbine Club fundraising. This year, the Academy has provided eight talented junior players from the age of 11 – 14 years of age to access specialist coaching, athletic development assistance as well as assisting players when they travel to identified tournaments with entry fees and uniform costs covered by this sponsorship. Golf NT are hopeful that the number of players in the NT Academy will continue to grow as a result of the underpinning programs conducted at schools and at Golf Clubs.
