Juniors wowed by MyGolf experience at PGA Championship

The benefits of joining the MyGolf junior program were well and truly on display at the PGA Championship held on the Gold Coast from December 11-14.

Some 24 young MyGolfers were not only able to watch Adam Scott as he fought to defend his 2013 title, they had an experience of a lifetime featuring an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour as well as getting up close with the players on the first tee, having a photo with them and watching them tee off from inside the tee box.

The behind-the-scenes tour consisted of visiting the media centre, holding a mock press conference, having a look in the players’ lounge and heading to the driving range.  The visit to the media centre and the press conference proved to be quite entertaining, especially with one of the youngsters posing as Adam Scott. It’s fair to say that ‘Little Adam’ managed to cruise through his press conference in true style!

All of the MyGolfers were amazed that they sat within arm’s reach of the Kirkwood Cup whilst they were having a press conference of their own, especially as Adam Scott’s name was the last name to be engraved on the trophy amongst a long list of golfing greats. They were quite excited to have a photo with the Kirkwood Cup after they finished their press conference experience.

Next stop on the tour was the players’ lounge. The MyGolfers were quite excited to see a few players sitting in the lounge and were equally amazed at the variety of food available for the players throughout the tournament. It was enough to make some little tummies rumble!

Not only were the MyGolfers able visit the driving range and watch some players warming up, they were privileged enough to meet the players on the first tee, have a photo taken with them and then watch them tee off from inside the tee box.  William Thorogood, of Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club, and Zac Hellewell, from Victoria Park Golf Course, were two lucky MyGolfers who got the chance to meet Wade Ormsby, Adam Scott and Scott Strange and have a photo with them. No doubt this will be an experience they will cherish for a very long time!

In addition to the behind-the-scenes and first tee experience for 24 MyGolfers, another 14 lucky MyGolfers were given the opportunity to assist with the final presentation on the 18th green. With a 3-way playoff on their hands, the young MyGolfers had to wait patiently before they could form a guard of honour, congratulate and get a photo with the winner of the 2014 PGA Championship, Greg Chalmers.
