Keating and Park Share Round One Lead at The Vintage

Victorians Stacey Keating and Lee Park lead the field after firing two under par rounds in difficult conditions on day one of the inaugural The Vintage Pro-Am today. Playing in the morning field, both players recorded four birdies against two bogies to record the only sub par rounds of the morning field, and ultimately the only red figures posted for the day. Strong gusting south east winds played havoc as many of the favoured players, particularly in the afternoon field, battled to keep their scores respectable. Three shots back of the leaders are Queenslander Sarah Jane Smith and the New South Wales duo of Sarah Kemp and Emma De Groot all of whom played in the more difficult late conditions. A field of 214 players including 63 ALPG and International professionals will play the final round tomorrow when conditions are expected to be more favourable. Keating, a two time winner on the 2012 Ladies European Tour stared the events as one of the favourites and said she was very happy with her round. It was tough out there but I struck the ball very well and am more than happy with 69. The winds were gusting and it made it difficult to choose the right club. she said. Rookie Park will be looking to maintain her form in her first ALPG Tour event which she acknowledged included many good players from the world Tours.
