Keating and Pratt land Dunes Medal

National Squad member Stacey Keating holed a 20 foot putt from off the fringe to defeat Srixon Australian Amateur champion Justine Lee in a play-off at the Dunes Medal at the Dunes Golf Links at Rye. The win was Keating&aposs second in succession after winning the Tasmanian Women&aposs Stroke Play championship in October. Both Lee and Keating finished tied at 4-over par and headed to the ninth hole to begin their play off. Lee cradled her third shot to a foot but Keating s long bomb was enough to hand her victory. Keating and Lee closed with final rounds of 1-under par 71. Australian Girls Amateur champion Ashley Ona finished in third place at 6-over par. Victorian Su-Hyun Oh and South Australia s Ebony Heard finished in a tie for fourth. In the men’s competition, Victorian Kieran Pratt staged a remarkable ten shot turn around in the final round to win the Dunes Medal by one shot from Brad Drewitt (NSW). After consecutive rounds of 2-under par 70 to begin the tournament, Pratt slipped to a third round 76 before turning it around to fire a 6-under par 66 on the final day and edge out Drewitt. Western Australia s Matt Jager finished in third place in a tie with New South Wales Dimi Papadatos at 1-under par.
