Keating continues form with Queensland Stroke Play win

Stacey Keating has maintained her recent hot form with a win at the Queensland Women&aposs 72-Hole Stroke Play Championship at Townsville Golf Club. The 21-year old fired a four round total of three-under which included a course record 69 on the second day. The Victorian was too strong down the stretch for Ellie Na who finished second at two-over and defending champion Bree Arthur who was third at four-over the card. Keating entered the final round nine strokes in front but the Victorian dropped three shots in two holes just after the turn while Na picked up shots on the same holes. Despite the finish being a lot closer than she might have liked or expected, Keating held on to record a solid victory just a fortnight after finishing runner-up at the Srixon Australian Amateur Championships. Perhaps more importantly for the 21-year old are the valuable Karrie Webb Series points she will collect for winning. With current leaders Kristie Smith, Stephanie Na and Clare Choi in New Zealand on representative duty, it was a perfect opportunity for Keating to close the gap on her competitors with just two events remaining. Karrie Webb Series rankings will be updated and posted at www.golfaustralia.org.au in the coming days. Click here for final scores
