" />Australia's Stacey Keating won medalist honours at the 2014 Women's US Open Qualifying event at Carolina Trace Country Club in North Carolina earlier today. Keating shot a two round total of 140 to finish one shot ahead of Spain's Marta Silva, who also qualified. Keating will join Karrie Webb, Katherine Kirk, Stephanie Na, Nikki Campbell and Minjee Lee in the event which will be played from the 17th-22nd June at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
Keating was delighted and relieved to get through the qualifier, and headed straight to the airport to catch a flight back to Atlantic City where she will tee it up in the Shoprite Classic in the early hours of tomorrow morning. Keating wasnt expecting to be in the event in New Jersey this week as she started out the LPGA season with a conditional card, but courtesy of some solid recent form and a re-rank of her category meant that she had a quick change of plans. A 36 hole US Open qualifier 800 kilometres from the Seaview course she will tee it up tomorrow morning is hardly an ideal preparation for an LPGA tournament but it will all be worth it when she steps onto the 1st tee at Pinehurst No.2 course on the 19th June!
