KENO NSW Mixed Fourball – State Final

It was the final round today of the 2012 KENO NSW Mixed Fourball Championship State Final, being played at the magnificent Bonville Golf Resort. Overnight the wind played havoc and the competitors thought the day would be a tough one. They were right. However, the day was sunny and warm and everyone was ready and raring to go. With a seeded draw for the day, it came down to the leading two pairs, in the final group of the day. They were met by an enthusiastic crowd on the balcony on the 18th hole. The victors were Chris & Annette Jackson from Macarthur Grange CC with an aggregate score of 83 (42 today) ahead of Greg & Stephanie Rapmund from Mangrove Mountain GC with an aggregate score of 81 (38 today). Forty pairs battled it out over the first 18-holes of the 2012 Keno NSW Mixed Fourball Championship, played today at Bonville Golf Resort. Clubhouse leaders are 2nd-time competitors&apos Stephanie & Greg Rapmund from Mangrove Mountain GC on a score of 43 points, closely followed by another pair who have been a part of this event before, Annette & Chris Jackson from Macarthur Grange CC. Everyone looked fabulous in their Keno sponsored black, red & white shirts which showed brillaintly against the beautiful display of azaleas which is out in abundance. Once again the Bonville Golf Course was perfectly presented and due to some dry conditions of late, was proving testing to the competitors with quite a good amount of run. The 2012 KENO NSW Mixed Fourball Championship State Final will take place on 11-14 September 2012. Forty pairs (20 metropolitan and 20 country) have qualified through Club and District events to reach the State Final. They will play two rounds at the magnificent Bonville Golf Resort to determine the 2012 Champions. Draw and Player Information can be found at the bottom of the page. The Championship kicked off on 1 January 2012, with club qualifying rounds commencing around the state. This year over 200 clubs participated in this event, with over 3,500 pairs competing at club level. In July, metropolitan and district play-offs narrowed it down to 20 metropolitan and 20 country pairs to contest the State Final. The State Final is 36-hole stableford (two rounds of 18-holes). The pairs playing in the final of this tournament have had an amazing journey, from qualifiers at the start of the year, to making it right through to the state final it’s a real achievement , remarked Graeme Phillipson, General Manager of Golf at Golf NSW. Activities kick off on Tuesday 11th September with a welcome BBQ for the players before they take to the course on Wednesday and Thursday. The event concluds with a presentation dinner on Thursday night to reward players for their efforts and to provide a festive finale to a fantastic event. Good luck to all in the Championship.
