Kids’ special treat

Children attending the MFS Australian Open this week at Royal Sydney have been flocking to the special Junior Golf Zone set up especially to provide them with a fun day at the golf and an increased awareness and interest in the game. As well as being able to play free games like sticky target chipping and fun putting, children can also undertake lessons with PGA Professionals and gather information about their own area&aposs local junior golf foundation. Located in the Village area at Royal Sydney, the kids have also met some celebrities in the Zone this week, with Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber and Oarsome Foursome rower James Tomkins, who is a multiple Olympic champion, among those who have dropped in. An initiative of the PGA of Australia and also funded by the First Tee Program, the Zones will also be set up at the MasterCard Masters next week at Huntingdale in Melbourne and at Hyatt Regency Coolum a fortnight later for the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship.
