Kikuchi breaks his duck

Thirty-three-year-old Jun Kikuchi has broken his duck on the Japan Golf Tour, holding at bay a quality field which included four Australiasians. Kikuchi won the Sun Chlorella Classic in a play-off with the more highly fancied Toru Suzuki after both finished at five-under after 72 holes. Kikuchi made par on the third extra hole to edge out seven-time winner Suzuki. The win came after more than a decade on tour for Kikuchi. Australian Wayne Perske finished in a share of 16th with a number of players, including New Zealanders Eddie Lee and David Smail. Perske fired a final round 70 to finish one-over for the event, level with Smail (70) and Lee (73). The field&aposs only other Australian, Steve Conrad, was 54th after he completed a fourth round 74 to be 10-over the card for the week. The quartet will now take a fortnight off, along with the remainder of the tour, before resuming in Fukuoka at the KBC Augusta Classic.
