Congratulations to Tasmanian club Kingston Beach on its efforts over Term 1 to take out the award for MyGolf February centre of the month!
Signing up as a MyGolf centre in late September last year, MyGolf co-ordinator Shaun Smith began the program to engage juniors from the local community to develop basic golf skills and knowledge.
Now with 44 junior participants enrolled for 2017, Shaun explains how his success developed from local marketing.
“Pushing the program through marketing and social media opened up to a whole new market, and ensured the program’s success,” Shaun said.
“We are very happy to get some kids involved in the game of golf; it is a great pathway for them to start the sport, have fun and be active.”
“We are ecstatic with how the program is performing and engaging lots of kids from the local community.”
Shaun makes special mention to Simon Weston, development manager of Golf Tasmania, for his support of the club in setting up both MyGolf and Swing Fit, along with mention to the volunteers who assist MyGolf deliverer Brett Johns in the running of the program.
“As long as juniors are being introduced to the sport of golf and have pathways available, we feel successful in our role of growing the game,” Shaun said.
Congratulations to Kingston Beach Golf Club on their massive achievements for 2017!
MyGolf looks forward to the future programs and opportunities offered for the local community of Kingston, Tasmania.
