Kiwis defeat Australia at Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur

In an exciting final day the New Zealand seniors have narrowly defeated the Australians in the teams section of the 2013 Asia Pacific Senior Amateur Championship. With the best four scores each day counting the final totals saw the Kiwis win by three strokes from the Aussies. The star for Australia was Peter King who fired seven birdies in a round of 69 that saw him take the runner-up prize in the individual championship. The overall winner was visiting Englishman John Ambridge with a 54 total of one under par after rounds of 73-73-70. Australia fared very well in the prize ceremony with Jack Parker winning the Over 70 age group, Denis Dale winning the over 65 age group and Peter King winning the over 60 age group. Montgomerie Links is Vietnam&aposs top ranked course and it is also rated in the top ten Elite Courses of Asia. A course well worth playing if you get the chance. As well as the official Australian team above there are 9 more Australians playing in the tournament – easily the biggest overseas group. The 2014 Asia-Pacific Senior Championship will be played at Discovery Bay Golf Club, Hong Kong in November, 2014.
