Klatten ready to defend NSW Open

Golf NSW, Oatlands Golf Club and the ALPG are pleased to announce that the effervescent Joanna Klatten has confirmed she will be back to defend her title at the 2015 Bing Lee Fujitsu General Women’s NSW Open in March.

In 2014 the Frenchwoman came from behind, firing a dazzling course record nine-under-par 63 closing round to win the NSW Open by three strokes.

The 29-year-old, who finished at 16-under-par, made nine birdies in a flawless display around the Oatlands golf course to triumph from Canberra's Nikki Campbell.

The talented player can't wait to return, “I'm definitely looking forward to defend my NSW Open title, as it was such a memorable win.”

When asked what she could remember about her win she responded, “I remember playing some great golf and feeling like every shot looked easy that day. I also had a lovely lady (Judy) on the bag which helped me enjoy that day even more. I also remember not even knowing how many under I was when I sank the last putt.”

“I love this event because it's such a beautiful and fun course to play where you can be aggressive. There are also great crowds on the last day.”

“The course seems to suit my game because there are a lot of tee shots that you need to draw which is my natural shape of shot. The par 5s are almost all reachable in two and there are loads of wedge shots which is my favourite part of the game.”

It will be a little different for the players in 2015, normally the first major event on the ALPG Tour, this season it will be the last.  It will be played from the 6 to 8 March at “home” of the NSW Open, Oatlands Golf Club in Sydney.

The timing will mean the players will be nice and relaxed coming into Oatlands. However, they will be still focused as a professional title is at stake and it will be the final event of the 2015 Club Car Series.

The tournament is renowned for amazing finishes and no doubt in 2015 will be the same.

Spectators should remember that entry is free and it is the last chance to see the ladies play before they head back overseas for the year.
