The Kooringal Senior Amateur wrapped up today with some come from behind victories in most sections.

Ian McCleary (Kooringal) has returned the round of the day, a 5-over par 76 put him one shot clear over John Owen (Barwon Heads) overall to take the men’s gross honours. McCleary sat one shot back after round one but his knowledge around his home course and the greens that proved to be tough this week gave him an advantage over the field. Alan Bullas (Portsea) and Geoff Charnley (Rossdale) shared equal third with a 152 total.

The nett title was awarded to Adam Charleston (Lonsdale) who stormed home from 16th place overnight, a 67 nett in todays round catapulted him to the top of the table, narrowly edging out Brian Spalding (Kooringal) second on a countback from Allan Bullas (Portsea), both one shot behind Charleston.

The pointy end of the scratch stableford standings remained unchanged after round one, Heather Harley (Kooringal) remained at the top, maintaining a fair 7 shot lead over runner-up Sue Lush (Gardiners Run). Helen Drake (Dorset) put in another consistent round and kept Denise Doolan (Kooringal) at bay in fourth place.

Christine Doherty (Woodend) put in the round of the day, 37 points secured the stableford event win after jumping up from 10th place after round one. There wasn’t much room to move between Doherty and runner-up Mary Robertson (Kooringal), and equal third placed Kate Arnold (Kooringal) and Cheryl Turner (Riverside), only one shot separating the positions.
