KOOYONGA GOLF CLUB APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Adelaide’s prestigious Kooyonga Golf Club has announced the appointment of Mr Brett Lewis as its new General Manger.

Mr Lewis, aged 42, is currently the General Manger of Mount Lawley Golf Club in Perth and before that served as Finance Manager and Assistant General Manager of The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide.

Announcing the appointment today, Kooyonga’s Captain, Mr Ross Dillon said Mr Lewis was the outstanding candidate from a very strong field of applicants.

“We had nearly 140 applicants from around Australia, but Brett stood out because he is already in the role of General Manager to a similar sized golf club and because of his strong grasp of the challenges facing golf clubs throughout Australia.

“Brett has an excellent reputation throughout the golf industry and I’m confident he will provide the necessary leadership in all areas of the club’s administration.”

Mr Lewis has a Commerce Degree from Flinders University and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Prior to his involvement in the golf industry he worked as a Finance Manager for a media company and before that worked for
two accounting firms.

In February of this year, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Club Managers Association of America conference in Orlando, Florida.

He is married with two young children.

Mr Dillon said Mr Lewis had a reputation in the golf industry as a hard worker with outstanding communication skills and strong financial skills.

“It’s well known that golf clubs through Australia and indeed, throughout the world, are facing declining demand for membership and Brett impressed the interview panel not only with his grasp of those challenges, but ways in which we can attract new members and add value to current membership.

“He is very member-oriented and places a great deal of emphasis on communication with members and enhancing their membership of a club.”

Mr Dillon paid tribute to outgoing General Manager, Adrian Edgar, who is leaving the role at
the end of the year after 10 years of service.

“Adrian has been an outstanding General Manager and has ably led the club and left us in a strong financial position. He has very capably overseen a major redevelopment of the clubhouse, significant course works and more recently, a redevelopment of the men’s locker room – all of which has been achieved without any debt.

“I am confident that Brett Lewis will be able to build on the legacy left to us by Adrian.”

Mr Lewis commences his position at Kooyonga Golf Club on 1 December 2014.
