Kuchar: Shark might be right on world tour

World Number 8 Matt Kuchar believes a world golf tour is closer than people think and said he subscribes to some of the ideas Greg Norman brought to the table many years ago. Kuchar is in Melbourne this week for the Talisker Masters and is an international player in the true sense – having played in Hong Kong, France and Australia over recent seasons in addition to his PGA Tour schedule. Kuchar is committed to playing in Greg Norman&aposs event – the Franklin Templeton Shootout in Florida in December and said he was keen to talk to Norman about his original ideas. “I am anxious to get to the Shark Shootout and talk more to Greg Norman about what his vision was of a world tour,” Kuchar said. “I don t know many of the details but I do see that. I absolutely do see the PGA Tour, the European Tour, the Asian Tour, the Australian Tour, somehow turning into some sort of global world tour.” Ideas such as these have been around for many years (since Norman&aposs suggestion) but Kuchar, 35, feels that the momentum is building internationally as the PGA Tour expands its brand into new territories. “I think it will be in my time. I think it seems like it is coming quicker in this last year. With the PGA Tour setting up shop in the Tour de las Am ricas, PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour China now. It feels like there is a real global reach, particularly to the PGA Tour but I kind of see, you know, with other tours talks of merging, talks of joining forces,” Kuchar said. “I can certainly see a global tour happening and we may all be saying, Greg Norman was right back in the day. I don t know exactly what his world tour was thought to be but, you know, he can certainly have been right about it,” he added.
