Kyriacou Qualifies for US Jr Girls

St. Michael's Golf Club's Stephanie Kyriacou has qualified for the 2017 US Girls Junior Championship after shooting an even par 71 at Mauna Lani Bay Resort Course on the big island in Hawaii.

Despite high winds which made conditions treacherous, The junior dynamo made four birdies and four bogeys in an impressive round to win in the sectional.

The 16-year-old was thrilled with her effort."I hit the ball solid the whole day, would have been good if a few more putt dropped in."

"It's exciting knowing that I'll be playing against some of the best girls in the world." She smiled.

Kyriacou has been in stellar form this year. Early this month she was part of a three-member Australian team that finished third in the Toyota World Junior in Osaka Japan.
She was part of the NSW women's team that was narrowly defeated in the Australian Interstate Teams series at Royal Fremantle Golf Club in May, and in April, she was undefeated as NSW retained the Girl's Interstate teams title.

Previous winners of the US Girls Junior include Ariya Jutanugarn, Lexi Thompson, Nancy Lopez, Inbee Park, Brandee Burton, Amy Alcott, and Mickey Wright. The Championship will take place at Boone Valley Golf Club, Missouri, from July 24 -29.
