Langford, Percy and Briers Take Lead at Bright

Ross Percy (Cobram-Barooga), Tony Briers (The National) & Judy Langford (Wodonga) will lead their respective fields after round one of the 2018 Alpine Senior Masters played at Bright Country Golf Club situated in the foothills of the Victorian alps.

The course, designed by Tony Cashmore, is a unique layout with magnificent well grassed fairways and smooth true greens.

Percy and Briers fired rounds of 3 over par 75 par to lead the field by one stroke. Trailing the leaders is Pat Giles (The National), Geoff Charnley (Rossdale) and Phil Clarnette (Yarrawonga Mulwala) who all returned a 76 off the stick to sit one behind. In the nett championship Ignatius Duivenvoorden (Yarram) will sleep on the nett lead after finishing with a fine round of nett 70, leading a 5-player tie for second place on 71.

In the women’s championship, Wodonga’s Judy Langford leads Sue Lush (Gardiners Run) and Aileen Buckley (Yarrawonga-Mulwala)by a comfortable 11 points after an opening round 32 gross stableford point. Wagga Wagga’s Elaine Zotti leads the women’s nett championship after recording a fine round of 37 stableford points, with Langford and The National’s Trish Barr well in reach at 2 points behind.

Fine sunny weather prevailed today with the forecast for slightly cooler conditions tomorrow which will setup an exciting finish. The final round will get underway via a shotgun start at 9:00am.
