Langford victorious – 2012 Country Championship Final

3rd August 2012

Judy Langford (Yarrawonga) has taken out the 2012 Women’s Country Championship defeating Rebecca Wright at Rich River in this morning. The pair were all square at the half way mark of the match but Langford proved too strong for the local on the back nine of the west course, winning 4/3.

Langford had shown solid form all week, shooting rounds of  78 & 82, qualifying in 5th position, and narrowly losing the Country Foursomes Championship in a sudden death playoff to Wright and playing partner Reanna Matthews (Leongatha).
Langford defeated Helen Pascoe 3/2 in the Quarter Finals before closely overcoming the number one qualifier, Reanna Matthews, in the Semi Final to advance through to the Final against Wright. This is the second time Langford has won the title, the first back in 2008.

2nd August 2012

Local member Rebbeca Wright will take on Judy Langford (Yarrawonga) tomorrow to decide the 2012 Women’s Country Championship. Wright defeated 2012 Veteran Champion, Jill Blenkey (Bright) 5/4, before continuing her solid play for the week beating Catherine Odgers (Wodonga) 4/3 in the Semi Finals. 2012 leading qualifier and Betty Kernot trophy winner, Reanna Matthews (Leongatha), won her first match 5/3 against Sandy Stewart (Portland), but Langford proved too strong in the Semi Final, defeated Matthews 1 up in a nail biting clash. Langford won the title in 2008, and will undoubtedly use that experience in the event come tomorrow.

1st August 2012:
