Andre Lautee (Kingston Heath) is a dual title holder after taking out the Woodlands Open Amateur and Victorian Men’s Champion of Champions titles at Woodlands Golf Club today.
A strong calibre field braced the tough conditions for the last event of the 2018 Ivo Whitton ranking calendar.
After most of the players finished their first round, play was suspended due to multiple lightning hits. Following a short break, players returned for a brief period before heavy rain and lightning resulted in the course becoming unplayable, and the event being reduced to 18 holes.
Only four days after claiming the Victorian Men’s Amateur Championship, Lautee continued his good form taking the day’s titles with a two under par 70.
“After winning the Victorian Amateur title it was great to continue that form and claim another victory today”, the Kingston Heath member stated.
One shot back was Victoria’s Antony Majstorovic who fired a round of 71 on the challenging Woodlands layout.
The Victorian Men’s Champion of Champions title, awarded to club or district and state title winners, was played in conjunction with the Woodlands Open Amateur for the third year in a row. Lautee and Majstorovic took home both the winner and runner-up trophies respectively.
A huge thank you to all players for their understanding in the difficult conditions as well as everyone at Woodlands golf club for their support and hospitality for the event.
