Lee and Oh get Major invitation

World Number 1 amateur Minjee Lee (WA) and World Number 5 Su-Hyun Oh (VIC) have been invited to compete at the Kraft Nabisco Championship the first women’s major championship of 2014 from 3-6 April at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. It will be the pair s first start in a major championship where they ll take on over 100 of the top women golfers in the world as they vie for a place in LPGA history, the white robe and the legendary leap into Poppie&aposs Pond. The field will include defending champion Inbee Park and other top American and international players including Stacy Lewis, Karrie Webb, Suzann Pettersen, Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Lexi Thompson, Na Yeon Choi and Ai Miyazato. I m really looking forward to playing at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and very grateful for the invitation, Lee said. The last couple of months in particular have been really good for me and it will be a great test over there. I m excited about the chance to compete at a major championship and will go over there with confidence from my recent tournaments, Lee added. For Lee, the invitation comes on the back of her first victory at a professional tournament at the Oates Victorian Open and her superb performances at the major tournaments over the Australian summer where she made national and international headlines. Last weekend Lee finished as the leading amateur in a tie for fourth at the World Ladies Championship in China on the Ladies European Tour. Oh has also enjoyed a solid summer and made the cut at the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters and the ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open where she fired a third round 66. The Kraft Nabisco Championship has enjoyed the longest continuous run of any of the women’s Majors at a single venue since it was first played in 1972. Karrie Webb remains the only Australian to have won the title, having done so in 2000 and 2006.
