Perth’s Minjee Lee is finding her feet quickly on the LPGA Tour, rising to No.67 in the Rolex Rankings after her first American event as a professional.
Lee, 18, resumed her campaign this morning in the Bahamas with a first-round 74, still basking in the glory of a 12th place finish on debut last week in Florida.
“Despite being a bit nervous in my first tournament as a rookie, I was able to play well over the weekend,” Lee wrote on her website’s new blog.
“I stayed with a nice host family there and really enjoyed the Golden Ocala Golf Course, specifically the replica holes of some of the famous golf courses around the world, including Augusta National.
“I was happy with the result and how I’m hitting the ball and it was nice to get the first event under my belt and guild some confidence going into the Bahamas.
Lee will return home next week to prepare for the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open at Royal Melbourne refreshed for her first fully global campaign.
“I have spent a few weeks back home in Australia preparing for the season in the gym and on the golf course with my coaches from Golf Australia in addition to visiting Korea to see my family and spend some time with my new sponsors.”
