Minjee Lee said she went out on the golf course “to have fun”.
She surely did.
The Australian shot 66 to start the BMW Ladies Championship at Busan in South Korea.
It was enough to lead the field as the LPGA Tour continued its Asian swing.
"Whenever I had to make up and down, I was able to get up and down,’’ said the 23-year-old Lee. “I think that was able to help with the momentum."
The weather turned quickly in Busan and Lee said she experienced "a bit of everything today", but the Western Australian was hot most of the day. "I just tried to have fun out there today,” she said. “I tried to keep it really light and that's why I had a good result."
Lee was not the only Aussie to profit on the first day. Su Oh, the Victorian who came through the amateur ranks with Lee, shot an opening 68 to be inside the top 10.
