Lee Moves Into The Lead

Defending champion Minjee Lee from Western Australia leads the field following the third round of the 2012 Elvie Whitesides 72-Hole Stroke Play Championship. Lee carded an afternoon round of 69 to finish the day at eleven-under-par and one stroke in front of Victoria s Su-Hyun Oh. Oh returned a six-under-par 67 to place second on ten-under-par. Western Australia s Hayley Bettencourt is placed third on one-under-par. Held in conjunction with the Elvie event is the Tasmanian Women’s Senior, B and C Grade Championships over 36-holes. Tasmania Golf Club’s Margaret Leary has collected the 2012 Tasmanian Women’s Senior Amateur trophy. Leary won the event with scores of 81 and 87, a 36-hole total of 168. Leary won the championship by eight strokes from Victoria s Sandra Collingwood who carded 85 and 91 for her total of 176. Launceston Golf Club’s Libby Lawson claimed the Tasmanian Women’s B Grade title after a sudden-death play-off with fellow club member Allison Crerar. Both Lawson and Crerar finished the tournament with totals of 196, but it took a par on the third extra hole for Lawson to capture the prize. Ulverstone Golf Club’s Maxeen Fennell claimed back-to-back C Grade titles with scores of 107 and 109, a total of 216.
