Lee tops World Amateur rankings

After a blistering summer schedule which culminated in victory at the Oates Victorian Open, Western Australia&aposs Minjee Lee has moved to the top of the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The 17-year-old and new World Number 1 amateur won the Australian Amateur Championship for the second time January before going on a superb run that saw her challenging at every major professional women&aposs event over the Australian summer. In addition to her victories in the Amateur title and Victorian Open, Lee finished third at the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast, fifth at the Bing Lee NSW Women&aposs Open and 11th at the ISPS HANDA Women&aposs Australian Open after leading the field into the final round. After her win at Thirteenth Beach Lee said the experience of her top finishes in the previous weeks had helped her. “I think just being in that situation. I was so much more comfortable in today s round. I guess I have just gotten used to it,” Lee said. Compatriot Su-Hyun Oh is now World Number 5 on the World Amateur Rankings.
